Limited edition beer tasting

Brewers at Edgefield McMenamins will host a limited edition beer tasting 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at the Distillery Bar, 2126 S.W. Halsey St., Troutdale.

The limited edition beer is called Mayan Apocalypse. People of all ages are welcome to attend, but must be 21 and older to sample the beer. McMenamins passport stamps are available for participants.

MHCC features 'Elemental' exhibit

An exhibit featuring the works of Jen Fuller, Rob Johnson, Dan Maghiari and Shelby Wilson opened this week at Mt. Hood Community College's Visual Arts Gallery.

"Elemental Perspectives" runs through Feb. 1. A reception will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11.

The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 26000 S.E. Stark St. in Gresham. For more information, call 503-491-7309.

Planetarium offers 2018 snapshot

Mt. Hood Community College Planetarium Director Pat Hanrahan will discuss "2018: A Snapshot of Upcoming Astronomical Events" at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 12, in the college's planetarium, 26000 S.E. Stark St., Gresham.

During the show, he will discuss the best opportunities for seeing the 2018 night sky and what to expect with existing and upcoming space missions. He notes viewers will see Venus and Mars at their brightest as Earth's orbit will bring us close to each of them.

Zimmerman Heritage Farm schedules tour

East County Historical Organization (ECHO) will host the Zimmerman Heritage Farm Tour noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at 17111 N.E. Sandy Blvd., Gresham.

The historic Zimmerman House was built in 1874 and was home to three generations of the Zimmerman Family. Their furnishings and personal articles remain in this two-story Victorian home, with nine rooms open to the public.
