Lois Voia-Tipei of Glendale, Ariz. and Santino Filipelli of Gresham announced their engagement Sept. 22. The couple plans to celebrate with their families on Nov. 16.
The couple met at Santinos church, Agape Bible, and through mutual friends in 2012.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Florian Voia-Tipei and Lidia Voia-Tipei of Glendale, Ariz. Lois graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2013 with a bachelors degree in pre-med. She works as a professors assistant at Grand Canyon University and is waiting on her application status to five different optometry schools. Additionally, Lois is involved with the girls choir at Happy Valley Church in Glendale and volunteers feeding the homeless.
The groom-to-be is the son of Steve Filipelli and Estera Gale of Oregon City. He is a licensed real estate agent and EKG technician at Adventist Hospital. Santino is studying nursing at Portland Community College.
He also volunteers at Boring Fire Department, serves as a certified trauma intervention specialist and plays chess and indoor-league basketball.
A wedding is planned for Feb. 18, 2014, in Phoenix, Ariz. The couple plans to make their home in Gresham.
