by: David Ball, Gresham senior Jonathan Treloggen won the shot put and finished second in the discus on Saturday.

Gresham senior Jonathan Treloggen had a big day at the Centennial Invitational on Saturday, emerging as the only East County athlete to win an event at the prestigious track meet that draws from top programs along the West Coast.

Treloggen opened his day with a win in the shot put with a heave of 56-feet-6 3/4-inches that edged local rival Alex Balducci of Central Catholic by a hand print, avenging a loss during a dual meet earlier this month. Treloggen's effort was the fourth-best mark in the state this season across all levels.

He followed that up with a second-place finish in the discus (148-6), coming up just six inches short of McNary's Austin Hejny.
