Barlow sprinter Margaret Paul sets mark in relay and in 200 dash
by: David Ball, Barlow’s Margaret Paul heads for the finish line with a second-place effort in the 200-meter dash Tuesday. She set a school record with a time of 25.40 seconds.

The Barlow girls track team sprinted away in the first race of the day and was never going to be caught, beating Gresham 86-59 in Tuesday's City Meet to finish the regular season a perfect 6-0 in duals.

The Bruins pushed the limits early shifting its handoffs in the 400-meter relay, cutting the margin for error but pushing the reward of a fast time.

And fast it was.

The Barlow combination of Kate Johnson, Danelle Woodcock, Meera Niles-Paul and Margaret Paul zipped around the track in 49.03 seconds - the fastest time in the state this season.

'The 400 relay is the first race on the track and when you put together a good one it can really set the tone and get people excited,' Barlow coach David Kilian said. 'We moved our exchange marks a few steps, giving the girls a chance to be at top speed when they take the baton.'
