Alex Cicerich takes first in the 100-meter final, while Oliver Tymoshuk wins the high jump
by: Miles Vance, Corbett’s Oliver Tymoshuk soars into the pit during the long jump earlier this season. He cleared 5-8 to win the district high jump on Saturday.

The Corbett boys track team crowned a pair of champions at last week's Lewis and Clark League district meet at Catlin Gabel High.

Both were narrow victories with senior sprinter Alex Cicerich edging Clatskanie's Cedet Bailey in a photo finish for the 100-meter title, hitting the tape in 11.39 seconds.

Cicerich finished third in the 200 later in the day.

Corbett teammate Oliver Tymoshuk found himself locked in a tough battle in the high jump where five athletes cleared the bar at 5-feet-6-inches.

But only Tymoshuk and Catlin Gabel's David Lovitz were able to go any higher, each clearing 5-8 with Tymoshuk scoring first-place points based on fewer misses in the competition.

Isaac Noles was the team's other 3A state qualifier after taking second in the discus. He also came in third in the javelin.
