Throwers lead Gresham boys

Barlow jumper Ryon Clement enters the finals just inches off the leaders
by: David Ball, Gresham senior Jonathan Treloggen takes a spin in the shot put ring en route to a fifth-place finish in the event.

EUGENE - The Gresham boys team scored all 14 of its points in Friday's opening session, highlighted in the discus final where the Gophers put two onto the awards stand.

Senior Jonathan Treloggen put up a first-round throw of 167-feet-8-inches that proved to be the best mark through prelims and survived through the first series of finals before Sheldon's Jacob Foutz finally surpassed it with a through of 174-4 on his next-to-last attempt.

Treloggen launched another long one out into the sector on his final try, but it came up about 10 feet short. He had three of the longest five throws on the day and his series came in eight feet longer than Foutz - both throwers fouled one attempt.

Gresham teammate Miles Lewis placed seventh at 146-3. He broke the 140-foot barrier on four of his attempts.
