Hoecker wins Barlow decathlon

by: David Ball, Barlow senior Dillon Hoecker competes in the 100-meter dash, his highest scoring event, during his win in the decathlon last weekend.

Barlow senior Dillon Hoecker posted top marks in six of the 10 events to win a decathlon event hosted at Barlow High School over the weekend. He posted a score of 5,141 points with his high-point effort coming in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.71 seconds.

Barlow's Auston Burns finished second with 4,869 points, while Jackson Haselnus was third with a 4,578 total. Both distance runners had the 1,500 as their high-point event. Burns also tied for the top mark in the long jump.

n Barlow's Mandie Maddux won the girls heptathlon with 3,893 points, scoring top marks across all seven events. Her high-point event was the high jump where she tied her personal best with a clearance of 5-feet-5-inches. Cassie Ingram came in second with 3,030 points and Peyton Lewis was third with 3,015 points.
