Gophers pull away from McNary, move to 3-0

Central Catholic falls to reigning 6A champion Lake Oswego, David Douglas loses a heartbreaker to Oregon City


GRESHAM 39, MCNARY 18 — The Gophers shutout McNary in the second half to turn a 22-18 halftime lead into a 21-point win. Devauntae Hoffman helped break the game open with a 51-yard touchdown run to start the second half, while Mikey Downey converted a pair of field goals.

Gresham (3-0) can complete a perfect run through the nonleague schedule with a road win next Friday at Westview.

REYNOLDS 56, MCKAY 14* — Reynolds QB Josh Schleining completed 16 of 18 attempts for 284 yards and five TDs in the win. The Raiders scored on their first seven possessions before a fumble ended that streak midway through the third quarter.

SOUTHRIDGE 42, CENTENNIAL 28 — Eagles halfback A.J. Wienke gained more than 200 all-purpose yards, while fullback Nick Schoebel scored three touchdowns in the loss to Southridge.

WEST LINN 22, BARLOW 10 — The Bruins took a 10-7 lead in the second quarter after Dillon Payne’s 8-yard scoring run, but that would prove to be Barlow’s final points. West Linn went ahead on a TD pass before halftime and added another long bomb in the third quarter to seal the win.

LAKE OSWEGO 23, C. CATHOLIC 14 — The reigning 6A champs moved to 3-0 in the nonleague season with the win. The Lakers scored the first two touchdowns of the night and never trailed, sealing the victory with Griffin Graves short field goal in the fourth quarter.

OREGON CITY 33, D. DOUGLAS 31 — Andre Reasno’s 70 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter put the Scots in front 31-30, but the host Pioneers won the game on a short field goal by Daniel Slack after seeing a drive stall out at the goal line.
