The Mount Hood Conference sends four teams into Saturdays second round

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Barlows Rachel Woodcock serves up a ball during Wednesdays three-set sweep over Tualatin.

Barlow blitzed Tualatin in the first round of the OSAA 6A volleyball playoffs, needing less than an hour to close out a 25-5, 25-7, 25-16 sweep.

The Bruins only challenge came in the third set, which saw the Timberwolves pull even 10-10 before Brynna Dougharity served up a four-point spurt that included an ace that spun down sharply in Tualatin’s front row.

“We came out with some really consistent serving and were able to terminate the ball when it did come back to our side,” Barlow coach Jessie Camp said. “It was good to see us come out and compete, and it’s going to take even more to keep going.”

Barlow advances to play at No. 5-ranked Lake Oswego on Saturday with the winner qualifying for the state tournament.
