Poor shooting dooms Saints at home
Walla Walla builds a quick double-digit lead to beat Mt. Hood 55-41
The Mt. Hood CC womens basketball team lost touch late in the first half Friday and never recovered during a 55-41 home loss against Walla Walla.
The Warriors took a 19-10 lead midway through the first half after Caitlin Duncan sank a 3-pointer from the left side.
Points would be hard to come by for the Saints, who managed just two baskets in the 10 minutes leading up to halftime. Mt. Hood shot just 6 for 25 (.240) in the first half.
Walla Walla extended to a 27-14 lead when Hailey Felgenhauer dribbled across the lane and put up a wild hook shot with :01 showing on the shot clock.
The Warriors had a chance to add to their lead heading into the locker room, but Mt. Hoods Sydney Mendezona ripped the ball away from Duncan down low as the buzzer sounded.
Felgenhauer led all scorers with 22 points, while Hannah Mocaby had a team-high nine for Mt. Hood.
