Oregon Shockwave takes down Washington state champs twice to claim crown
The Oregon Shockwave, out of Gresham, put together a four-game win streak to claim the ASA Northwest Regional 10U softball championship Sunday at Delta Park.
The Shockwave faced its biggest challenge against the Washington Speed in a battle of state champions. The teams first met Saturday in the second round of the tournament with the Shockwaves gaining quick command with a four-run spurt in the first inning.
Lexi Geary highlighted the scoring spree by hitting a two-run triple that sailed over the center fielders head. Teammate Kyla Nannini followed with an RBI-double into right field.
The Shockwave went on to win 5-1 and would take a rematch with the Speed 7-5 in extra innings in Sundays title game.
