The Gresham 10U squad wins five straight elimination games

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Members of the Shockwaves gather in the pitchers circle during a tournament earlier this summer. The team finished with 61 wins. The Oregon Shockwaves out of Gresham finished a stellar summer softball run with a third-place finish at the ASA 10U Western Nationals last week in Medford.

The team finished with a 7-2 record at the tournament, winning five straight elimination games to reach the semifinals. The road ended with a 6-2 loss to the Artesia Punishers out of California.

The team allowed only eight runs during their five-game win streak in do-or-die games, and Alyssa Daniell hit two home runs for the tournament.

“It was awesome to see the girls battle,” coach Tracy Pemberton said. “They just never gave up, and a few of those wins didn’t come until the last inning.”

Team AB from Rancho Belago, Calif., won the tournament.
