Eagles stay in the hunt with easy win
1A BOYS HOOPS - Damascus Christian moves to 11-1 in the Valley 10 with win over City
PORTLAND - City Christian was doomed either way.
You can't start a comeback by watching the other team dribble the ball at half-court. But coming out to defend Damascus guard Eric Rauch was impossible, too, during the Eagles 52-42 win Tuesday night.
After seeing its lead cut to single digits, Damascus coach Terry Calhoun called timeout early in the second half and gave his team a simple assignment. In other words, clear out and give the ball to Rauch.
'We wanted to spread them out and break their zone,' Rauch said. 'It was entertaining to wait for them to respond, and once they came after me, we had what we wanted.'
