MHC SWIMMING - Centennial boys start fast, never trail in finale vs. Gresham
by: David Ball Centennial’s Blake Suh makes a splash with his win in the breaststroke.

The Centennial boys swim team was on the verge of its first perfect season in school history, and the Eagles weren't about to stumble over their last hurdle.

The Eagles won the day's first three events, including a narrow relay victory, to jump out to a 28-18 lead that they would never surrender.

'Getting first and third in that opening relay got us off to a solid start,' Centennial coach Rod Lundgren said. 'It was a great effort from those guys.'

Lundgren considered shuffling his relay lineup moments before the race, before deciding to stick with his original set. The choice paid off when the Eagles tag-team won the 200 medley (1:43.85) shaving more than a second off its previous best to beat Gresham by .34 hundredths.
