by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Greshams Kara Ikebe makes a run through the midfield during the Gophers 4-1 win over Centennial on Monday night. The Gresham girls soccer team needed win Monday night to secure second place in the Mount Hood Conference. The Gophers didn’t take long getting the job done.

Gresham’s Amber Peschka found the net the first time she touched the ball, taking a sharp pass from teammate Staci Tatum, dribbling into the box and beating the goalie with a blast inside the far post.

The Gophers would add two more goals before intermission and another in the second half to earn the 4-1 win over Centennial.

Gresham (7-2-2) clinched a playoff berth with the win, heading into Wednesday’s regular-season finale at Central Catholic. The loss leaves Centennial in fourth place, relegated to a spot in the play-in qualifiers next week.
