Three teams battling for two spots in Thursdays final matches

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Centennials Marko Bozic fires a shot that resulted in a goal and a 2-0 lead early in the second half Tuesday. TROUTDALE — The Centennial boys soccer team moved into playoff position Tuesday with a 3-0 win at Reynolds, overtaking the Raiders in the MHC ladder with one match to play.

The Eagles sealed the victory by striking twice in the opening minutes of the second half. Marko Bozic tallied the first goal on an assist from Jacob Schultz just two minutes into the half.

Marco Farfan notched his second goal of the day from 10 yards out by curving a shot around a defender and past the diving goalie inside the near post to make it 3-0.

The Eagles (4-3-2) overtook Reynolds for third place in the MHC, putting them in position to earn the league’s final automatic berth into the 6A bracket.

Reynolds has fallen from second place to fourth after a four-match losing streak that has seen it outscored by a combined 12-0.

The regular season comes to a close Thursday.

Here is the playoff breakdown heading into those matchups.

• Barlow @ Reynolds, 4 p.m. — Reynolds needs a win AND a Centennial loss OR tie to get in. Barlow is out.

• David Douglas @ Central Catholic, 6 p.m. — David Douglas gets in even with a loss, as long as it stays above Reynolds in the RPI. The Scots are five spots higher. The Scots clinch a spot with a tie and would lock up the No. 2 spot with a win.
