MHC BOYS HOOPS - Centennial faces showdown with first-place Central Catholic next week
by: David Ball Centennial guard Isaiah Razo looks for a teammate after driving into the lane during the Eagles 77-71 win over David Douglas on Friday night.

The Centennial boys basketball team kept its state playoff chances alive with a 77-71 win over David Douglas on Friday night.

The Eagles got off to a flying start, knocking down five 3-pointers in the first quarter. Adam Westfall led the charge with a trio of long balls.

'I was on, and it helped us build up a lead, and we never lost it,' Westfall said.

Not that David Douglas rolled over and died.

In fact the Scots found themselves trailing by a single point at the end of the first quarter when guard Kevin Hurley raced down court, took off behind the 3-point line and hit a lunging shot at the horn. He was fouled on the shot, making it a four-point play.
