VALLEY 10 HOOPS - Damascus Christian to face Columbia in Saturday's championship games, girls tip at 6:30 p.m.
by: Kris Anderson Damascus guard Eric Rauch lets loose with a shot Thursday night.

It was certainly all about defense.

'It was a scrapper, like we knew it would be,' Damascus Christian coach Terry Calhoun said of his teams 44-26 win over the North Clackamas Saints in the Valley 10 semifinal game on Thursday.

The Eagles were in control for much of the game, but that was due to their defense more than their offense. They held the Saints to their lowest output of the season, holding them to just 10 first-half points.

The Eagles strategy was simple: don't allow the Saints (16-9, 12-4) to get to the paint. They wanted to keep the ball away from Ben Porter and 6-foot-4 Eli Burch and force other Saints to take the bulk of the shots.
