L and C HOOPS - Loss to Valley Catholic ends season for Cardinals
by: Miles Vance Corbett’s Joey Deibert splits a pair of Valley Catholic defenders to pull down a rebound during Thursday night’s playoff loss to the Valiants.

Corbett came into its Thursday playoff game as hot as the surface as the sun. Then, the Cardinals boys basketball team opened their Lewis and Clark playoff contest at Valley Catholic as cold as ice.

In the end, Corbett erased all of its early 15-point deficit and forged a one-point lead in the fourth quarter before falling short 52-44 at Valley Catholic.

The loss ended Corbett's season - which included an eight-game win streak before Thursday's loss - at 17-7 overall, fourth in the L and C.

'It was a good comeback. It's just too bad it ended like it did,' said Corbett's Alex Cicerich, one of 12 seniors on the Cardinal roster. 'We've played with each other since we were 4.'

'We dug deep, and it was like, 'We've got to step this up' and we did,' said senior Isaac Noles. 'But it wasn't quite enough.'
