David Douglas beats Sunset to advance to second round

One team had to make it about defense, and eventually, David Douglas did.

After the Scots and the Sunset Apollos combined to score 64 points in the first half, David Douglas' defense was the story in the second half. The Scots allowed just 15 points the rest of the way, as they defeated the Apollos 68-45 in the first round of the OSAA 6A boys basketball playoffs on Wednesday at David Douglas High School.

On offense, Jeremiah Harris and Kevin Hurley led the Scots with 17 points each. Adrian Koza also reached double figures with 13 points. Matthew MacMillan was the Apollos' leading scorer with 10 points.

An up-and-down first half slowed for both team after the break. The Scots, who entered halftime with a four-point lead, created the separation they needed to win in the third quarter....
