by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Damascus Christians Daniel Vroom sends a shot over the top of SW Christian defender Ben Young during the Eagles 54-46 win Thursday. The Damascus Christian boys basketball team closed out the first half on a 15-1 spurt to take command in a 54-46 Valley 10 League playoff win over Southwest Christian on Thursday night.

Tony Weaver converted a three-point play early in the second period to push the Wildcats in front. But the lead would last only a matter of seconds.

Damascus Christian’s Johnny Bright stepped between a pair of Wildcats to pick up a steal, which turned into a Hunter Straub 3-pointer at the other end. Teammate Silas Marvin served up a long ball of his own, and Daniel Vroom swiped a steal and took it the distance for a layin.

In less than a minute, the Eagles found themselves in command 22-13 and on their way to Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. title game against No. 5-ranked Columbia Christian.
