Abbie Bergerson hits the winning single through the middle in the ninth inning

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Barlows Kailee Tatro swings through during Thursdays 7-4 win over Central Catholic at Delta Park.PORTLAND — Barlow watched its four-run lead vanish down the stretch Thursday at Delta Park, but the Bruins didn’t collapse under the pressure. Instead, they responded with an offensive barrage in the ninth inning to claim a 7-4 win over Central Catholic to open the Mount Hood Conference schedule.

Abbie Bergerson came up with the winning hit — an RBI-single through the middle that scored speedster Kaylee Ree, who drew a walk to lead off the ninth. Two batters later, Morgan Bratcher sent a laser through the same hole in the infield to bring in two more runs and reach the final score.

The win marked four straight for Barlow (8-4), which sits No. 6 in the big-school RPI rankings.

Starting pitcher Nena Dudley struck out six batters and took a shutout into the sixth inning.
