Mt. Hood falls flat in battle for South supremacy
NWAACC SOFTBALL - Cougars end the weekend on top in South Region jumble
OREGON CITY - The Mt. Hood CC softball team traveled to Clackamas on Saturday in hopes of asserting itself as a contender for the South Region title once again. But the Saints left the field looking for answers after dropping both games of a doubleheader 14-4 and 9-1 to the Cougars.
The Saints held their only lead of the day when Mai Galusha hit a two-run homer in the first inning of game one. But Clackamas didn't flinch, storming back with 10 runs in the bottom of the inning, capped by Megan Malvick's three-run homer, to take quick control of the game.
Mt. Hood stayed in contention a bit longer in the second game, getting a second-inning homer from Alexis Cline that kept the Saints within 5-1 at the midway point. But missed opportunities prevented them from putting any real pressure on Clackamas.
Look for extended doubleheader coverage in the April 18, edition of The Outlook.
