Hunt sends two out of the park to turn away Klamath Falls

Gresham advances to the state semifinals Tuesday night at Alpenrose Dairy

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Greshams Keegan Hunt returns to the dugout after his second home-run blast of the day. PORTLAND — The Gresham all-stars continued their hot streak with a 16-7 win over Klamath Falls in the second round of the majors state Little League tournament Sunday afternoon.

The Gophers were clinging to a 4-3 lead midway through the game before Hunter Snow sent a two-run double over the center fielder’s glove in the fourth inning. Keegan Hunt added a pair of three-run homers in his last two at-bats.

“The game was still tight at the time, but those home runs dealt them a deflating blow and put the game out of reach,” Gresham coach Joe McKenzie said.

Klamath Falls brought seven pitchers to the mound, while Gresham starter Ethan Abrahamson didn’t allow a hit before being relieved early in the third inning. Gresham turned two double plays.

The Gophers advance to face either Rose City or Bend North in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Alpenrose Dairy.
