Gresham takes one from Rams

MHC BASEBALL - Kadyn Nannini's two-run homer proves to be the difference in Gophers 5-4 win
by: David Ball Gresham outfielder Kadyn Nannini returns to the dugout after hitting a two-run homer.

Gresham coach Jason Krohn knew he could trust one of his ace pitchers with the game on the line Friday night, keeping Clay Mott on the mound to finish a pressure-packed 5-4 win over reigning Mount Hood Conference champion Central Catholic.

Central made its charge in the seventh inning, pulling to within a single run when Danny Brakebush sent a two-run double into right field. But Krohn and the Gophers weren't about to panic.

In fact, Krohn tightened the margin for error when he called for an intentional walk to Rams slugger Jack Van Allen to load the bases with only one out. Mott would have to throw strikes or risk walking in the tying run.
