The Corbett girls are in the mix for their first-ever playoff berth at the 4A level

OUTLOOK PHOTO: DAVID BALL - David Douglas (14-7) sits at No. 14 in the OSAA rankings, looking to stay among the top 16 and earn a home game to open the 6A boys playoffs. With only a couple games remaining in the regular season, teams are down to their last gasp to make a push for the basketball playoffs.

The David Douglas boys sit in the best position among the East County schools, going into tonight's set with a solid 14-7 record and second place in the Mount Hood Conference already secured. The Scots are in position to host at least a first-round game and can boost their position with wins against fellow playoff qualifiers Oregon City and Clackamas over the coming days.

"I'm not sure there's a huge disadvantage to travelling unless you're making a trip down to Medford or somewhere," Scots' coach Chad Reeves said. "But having a game in your home gym creates a fun experience for the community. Obviously, you've had a better season if you're still playing at home."

• The Corbett girls are looking to make a historic splash by landing the program's first-ever postseason berth as a 4A school.

The Cardinals have won three straight to push themselves into a tie for second place in the Tri-Valley heading into Thursday's showdown with Madras.
