Coming off a series loss against Bellingham, the Gresham Greywolves were looking to start off their home opening series against the Cowlitz Black Bears on the right foot.
It became clear early on that the Greywolves would begin the three-game set with the upper hand.
The Greywolves scored six runs in the first inning off Cowlitz starter Cole Henderson as Gresham cruised to the 11-5 victory on Monday night at Mount Hood Community College.
"The biggest thing I want early on is progress. We won 11-5, which is great, but we need to continue to get better...We want to continue to hit the ball well and get better outings from our guys on the mound," Gresham head coach Justin Barchus said. "We did a good job of taking advantage of situations where we had runners in scoring position."
Tyler Parker led the way for the Greywolves with a 4-for-4 night with four RBI's. Connor Bock also had a big night at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI's. It was both players' first game for Gresham and they showed up in a big way.
"I felt like I got into a rhythm tonight with my at-bats. My swing felt good in (batting practice) and I felt like I was seeing the ball well," Bock said.
