The Gresham Diamond Crew finished fourth at the 9U Cal Ripken state baseball tournament last weekend at Main City Park.

The squad got out to a fast start with a 15-3 win over Sandy in the opening game of the weekend. Gresham took quick command with a two-out rally in the first inning that produced six runs. Brody Robertson sparked the scoring spree with a two-run single through the left side, while Brayden Bodine finished things off with a triple into the right-field corner that cleared the bases.

The Diamond Crew put up seven more runs in the second inning that put the team in charge 13-0. During one stretch, Gresham had 10 consecutive batters reach base safely.

The Diamond Crew won twice more during bracket play before falling 9-8 in extra innings to Lakeridge in an elimination game Sunday.

West Linn defeated Lakeridge 10-0 in the championship game.
