The Gresham Futures team closed out the season with a dominating doubleheader sweep Monday over Tigard, picking up two necessary wins to claim the Ellsbury Division title.
Already leading 4-1, Gresham picked up the bats and put the game out of reach with a two-out rally that produced five runs in its half of the fourth inning.
The scoring spree was highlighted when Jaden Sare stole home with a Superman slide across the plate.
The Gophers ended the game on the mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth after Jacob Dowden sent an RBI-single past the shortstop to supply the final 10-run margin.
Gresham took the first game of the doubleheader 7-1 to finish league play with a 10-2 record, beating Sunset on a tiebreaker to claim the division title.
The Gophers open the Oregon Independent Baseball Association Futures tournament at 1 p.m. Thursday against Barlow. Play in the single-elimination tournament continues into the weekend at Wilsonville High. The championship game is set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
