Five home-run balls left the park Wednesday night, so once the game reached extra innings, it was no surprise that a single swing of the bat would end the contest. Port Angeles center fielder Jordan Ackerman came up with the winning blast to lead off the 11th inning. The next three batters would go down quickly, but the damage had been done, and the Lefties would leave the field with a 9-8 victory.

The Gresham GreyWolves attempted to answer in their half of the inning when Jake Palmer led off with a single through the left side, but he would stay frozen at first base while watching a pair of teammates strike out. He finally got a chance to move into scoring position after Port Angeles reliever Ben Tinnel fired a wild pitch to the backstop.

But Palmer would move no farther. Alec deWatteville, the team's leader in home runs, hit a bouncer to second base for the game's final out.

While this series has no impact on the West Coast League playoff chase, Barchus is looking for a strong effort in the final two games of the series at 6:35 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

"We preach to these guys that there are 57 games to play, so they still have a few opportunities to get better," GreyWolves coach Justin Barchus said.

The GreyWolves (20-33) are offering free admission Friday's season finale — a 6:35 p.m. start against Port Angeles.
