GreyWolves on verge of a series sweep

WEST COAST LEAGUE BASEBALL

The Gresham GreyWolves turned away a two-out rally in the ninth inning to defeat Kelowna 6-4 on Thursday night.
Gresham took a 6-2 lead into the ninth inning and was about to slam the door shut on the victory after reliever Michael Clark retired the first two batters. But the Falcons responded with three singles and a walk to cut the margin in half and put the tying run on base.
Clark fired two balls to the next batter before finding his groove for three straight strikes to end the game.
Gresham (13-16) can sweep the series Friday night.
The GreyWolves opened up a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning on a pair of RBI-singles by Michael Breen and Jeffrey Mitchell Jr., who combined to go 5-for-8 (.625) on the night.
Gresham starter Rilyn Lewchuk struck out five through seven innings on the mound to improve to 3-0 this summer with a 0.75 ERA.
