MotoCross takes the stage on Thursday nights
Catching up with local riders in the MotoCross Series at Portland International Raceway
In the highly popular and grueling sport of motocross, over 200 riders from throughout the metro area enter races every Thursday at Portland International Raceway. That includes a mix of local riders who are contenders for a division title, including David Blew of Damascus, Jack Foeckler of Troutdale, Olivia Beko of Milwaukie and James Carnahan of Gresham.
In last Thursday's race, Blew recorded top-four finishes while competing in two race classifications on the 1.5 mile course that consist's of numerous jumps, sharp hairpin turns and long straightaway sections. Blew, 26, took the checkered flag in the BTH Master Division while riding his Bob Lanphere's Beaverton Honda Motorcycles sponsored 2015 Honda CRF 250cc motorcycle.
Blew's victory in the second of the two six-lap moto's, combined with his runnerup finish in the first moto to Tommy Weeck of Menifee, CA, propelled him to victory in the BTH Master Division. Riders compete in two moto's in each race classification, with the winner determined by the highest average finish of two events. Blew also competes in the Unlimited Pro class and he took fourth place last Thursday and he's ranked fourth in the point standings.
Blew also competes at Albany Motocross Park and at Mountain View Motocross Park in Sandy.
