CLACKAMAS — The David Douglas wrestling team flexed its muscle at the Mount Hood Conference district tournament and established itself as a main player when teams converge on Portland for the 6A state championships in two weeks.

The Scots crowned won nine weight classes Saturday night, highlighted by a run of seven straight titles through the middleweights. The most exciting bout of the night came at 160 pounds where Jamerz Magomadov scored a takedown with 0:04 on the clock to earn a 7-5 win over Oregon City's Joshua Tuthill.

The Scots piled up 430 total points — almost 150 more than runner-up Barlow.

David Douglas qualified 15 wrestlers for state. Roseburg will bring a state-best 19 to the Coliseum.

Other area weight-class champions are Centennial's Phillip Kue (106), Gresham's Yecity Restrepo (120) and Barlow's Zeph Childs (182).
