Strangling, attempted murder case on Americas Most Wanted

“America’s Most Wanted” is joining the man hunt for Mauricio Beltran-Trejo, a 35-year-old man wanted for the April 2 attempted murder and sexual assault of a 30-year-old Beaverton woman. The Lifetime Network show will air a feature on the case on Friday at 9 p.m. on its local cable and satellite service stations.

A crew from the show filmed a segment in early August at the Beaverton Police Department, which is handling the case.

Beaverton police, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers, has been asking for the public’s help since the April 2 attack to locate Beltran-Trejo and is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

The victim shared her story of the tumultuous two-year relationship she had with Beltran-Trejo and details of his brutal attack during a June news conference in the hope of letting more people know the attacker remained on the loose and needed to be removed from the streets.

Beltran-Trejo reportedly pushed his way into his ex-girlfriend’s Faircrest Manor apartment on April 2, grabbed her hair and choked her until she was unconscious. He then reportedly sexually assaulted her. Police believe Beltran-Trejo thought he killed Gomez when he strangled her.

Gomez was able to escape her apartment while Beltran-Trejo was in another room and called police before fleeing the scene.

Thought to be living with friends somewhere in the Beaverton-Hillsboro area, Beltran-Trejo is described as a 5-foot-7 Hispanic man with black hair, brown eyes and weighing approximately 190 pounds, said Officer Mike Rowe, Beaverton police spokesman.

Known to frequent area bars, the suspect has worked in the janitorial and nursery industries.

Anyone who has seen him or knows the man’s location is asked to immediately call Beaverton police at 503-629-0111.

“This man has committed a very violent crime,” Rowe said. “Ultimately, we want to make sure he’s captured so he doesn’t continue to terrorize this victim.”
