Students re-elect Obama, send corporate kicker to schools
Oregon students re-elected President Barack Obama in the states mock election that ended Thursday.
About 49,000 students at more than 200 schools around the state cast votes in the Oregon Student Mock Election hosted by the League of Women Voters. In results announced Thursday evening, 7,182 students voted to re-elect President Obama, with 3,675 voting for Republican challenger Mitt Romney.
Students narrowly approved legalization of marijuana (Ballot Measure 80) by 3,839 to 3,487 votes. They also supported by a wide margin (3,257 to 1,668 votes) Ballot Measure 85, which would end the states corporate kicker refund checks and redistribute the money to the education budget.

The Oregon Student Mock Election is a part of the nations largest voter education project, the My Voice National Student Mock Election. The national organization will announce nationwide student mock election results next week. Nationals results were delayed by Hurricane Sandy.
Students began voting on Monday and wrapped up the election on Thursday.
This years vote coincides with the 100-year anniversary of women gaining the right to vote in Oregon.
