Elected officials to fight hunger
Support donations to Oregon Food Bank West
Elected leaders throughout Washington County will band together to fight hunger on wednesday.
Mayors, legislator and other officials from every corner of county will repack food at Oregon Food Bank West to send a strong message that we can eliminate hunger when we all work together.
"Washington County has many examples of success and affluence. But it also has too many examples of substantial hunger. The Oregon Food Bank provides food to close to 90 front-line partner agencies in Washington County. They need our support. We want to bring increased attention and donations to support OFB and its partner agencies in Washington County," says Banks Mayor John Kinsky
The officials will gather from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 5 at Oregon Food Bank West, 1870 N.W. 173rd Ave. in Beaverton. They will include the following:
Jeff Dalin, Mayor, Cornelius
Craig Dirksen, Mayor, Tigard
Denny Doyle, Mayor, Beaverton
David Hatcher, Mayor, North Plains
Keith Mays, Mayor, Sherwood
John Kinsky, Mayor, Banks, and business owner Lanai Kinsky
Pete Truax, Mayor, Forest Grove
Joseph Gallegos, Representative-Elect, House District 30
Ben Unger, Representative-Elect, House District 29
Rob Drake, City Manager, Cornelius (former Mayor of Beaverton)
Dave Schamp, Councilor, Cornelius
"More than a third of those eating meals from an emergency food are children. That's simply unconscionable. Hunger is a solvable problem. When we all work together doing what we can we can eliminate hunger," says Kinsky.
