Man wounded in suspected Aloha gang shooting

A man was in critical condition after being shot in the back in a suspected gang shooting in Aloha on Saturday night.

The victim is Juan Jose Venezuela. He is 21 years old and lives in Aloha near where the shooting occurred.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, at about 9:00 p.m. on Jan. 19, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the area of S.W. 170th Avenue and S.W. Vendala Park Lane in the community of Aloha. When the deputies arrived, they found that one man was shot in the back as he walked along S.W. 170th Ave. He was transported in critical condition to Emmanuel Hospital.

The Washington County Interagency Gang Enforcement Team was called in to investigate the shooting. Witnesses reported seeing two Hispanic males in their 30's running from the scene. They were both wearing dark blue colored clothing. Witness statements lead investigators to believe that this incident is gang related and not a random shooting, the sheriff's office says.

The case is under investigation and no further details are available at this time. Investigators are asking the public to call 503-629-0111 if they have any information about this crime.
