Cannon resigns from Hillsboro police

Hillsboro police officer Timothy Cannon has resigned from the department effective Jan. 22.

Cannon resigned after being arrested for aggravated attempted murder following a confrontation with numerous law enforcement agencies at his Forest Grove home on Jan. 20.

A Washington County Sheriff's deputy suffered a non-life threatening wound during the confrontation. The source of the bullet has not been released.

Ten other law enforcement officials have been placed on administrative leave for firing their firearms inside the Cannon home during the confrontation.

The most recent names released include a Hillsboro police officer and four deputies. They are: Hillsboro Police Officer Stephen Slade, a 12-year veteran; Washington County Sheriff's Office Corporal Mark Trost, an 11-year veteran; Washington County Sheriff's Office Deputy Micah Akin, a seven-year veteran; Washington County Sheriff's Office Deputy Austin Allen, a four-year veteran; Washington County Sheriff's Office Deputy Justin Snyder, a four-year veteran.
