POETRY The Walters Cultural Arts Center, 527 E. Main St., hosts its monthly Open Poetry event every Second Tuesday, 7 to 8:30 p.m All are welcome to this free event in the arts center’s main gallery.

ROOTS The Genealogical Society of Washington County invites the community to three free classes at the North Plains Public Library on Tuesday mornings in March. Classes are March 12, 19 and 26. Pre-registration is required by calling 503-647-5051.

GENEALOGY The Genealogical Society of Washington County will hold its regular March meeting at 7 p.m. at the Washington County Public Services Building, 155 N. First Ave., in Room 140. Carol Surrency will speak on “Scotch Irish Migration to America.” The meeting is open to the public as well as members.
