Hillsboro will hold an open house on transportation plans for the South Hillsboro area from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, in Media Room of Century High School, 2000 S.E. Century Blvd., Hillsboro.

South Hillsboro is the name the city has given to approximately 1,100 acres of undeveloped land located south of the city limits and Tualatin Valley Highway. The city is developing a master plan for the area that currently envisions its development into a mixed-use community with 8,000 housing units and 25,000 residents at full build out. The city anticipates annexing the area once the master plan is completed and before work on the area begins.

At the open house, city staffers will talk about the timing and phasing necessary for the anticipated 20-year development of the area. An outline of Hillsboro’s Transportation System Plan amendments for South Hillsboro will also be available. They allow for the construction of a road system in the area and major north-south connections to Hillsboro. A separate plan is also being prepared for the TV Highway to help handle the projected traffic increase.
