Talk will be April 3 at HIllsboro health professions campus

Pacific University will host a panel on transgender and health care at noon on Wednesday, April 3, at the Health Professions Campus, 190 SE 8th Ave. in Hillsboro.

Panel topics will include transgender community in relation to health care, respectful treatment of transgender clients, political and social happenings in the community, internship opportunities for graduate students, and a history of TransActive, a non-profit organization that serves the needs of transgender and gender-nonconforming youth, their families and allies.

The panel includes Daylen Gonzales, community educator from TransActive, Carol Blenning, a doctor with the OHSU Richmond Clinic, Kara Connelly, a pediatric-endocrinology fellow at Doernbecher hospital, and Diane Avedovech, a scientist.

Martha Rampton, director for Pacific’s Center for Gender Equity, and Aaron Proctor, a graduate student at the School of Occupational Therapy, organized the event, which will take place in the main atrium on the ground floor.
