Hillsboro hires TV reporter as public affairs manager
Hillsboro has hired KATU-TV reporter Patrick Preston as its new public affair manager. He is replacing Barbara Simon, who is retiring at the end of the year.
"From planning for smart growth to developing a sustainability plan to bringing Single A baseball to the city, Hillsboro has created positive momentum for the region. I am elated to join the team in serving such a dynamic city. I look forward to helping tell the Hillsboro story," Preston said in a prepared statement.
In his new job, Preston will be responsible for managing the City's media relations, producing regular public communication pieces, supporting internal and external communication and coordinating public involvement activities.
"Patrick brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from his years as a reporter as well as enthusiasm for communicating the great things that are growing in Hillsboro. We can already tell he will give 110% to the job and we are delighted to have him on-board," said Corinne Bloomfield, Hillsboro's communications and marketing manager.
Preston graduated from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and journalism. He has served as the primary political reporter at television stations in Portland, Columbus, Ohio, and Spokane.
