Hillsboro High School will host a student-led youth rally on Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The rally will focus on inclusion and promote the RESPECT Campaign, which raises the consciousness of society about the hurtful effects of derogatory words like “retard(ed)” and advocates for the acceptance and respect of all individuals.

HilHi students Tyrell Woodland and Maria Ochoa are producing the rally as part of their senior project, along with Special Olympics Oregon. Through the rally, Ochoa and Woodland hope to educate, motivate and activate students with and without intellectual disabilities to work together to create school climates that promote the acceptance of every student.

“Through the youth rally we hope to promote the Respect Campaign and inspire everyone to take our message back to their schools and create positive change,” said Woodland.

Hillsboro High is located at 3285 S.E. Rood Bridge Road.
