Hillsboro schools announce changes


Hillsboro School District officials recently announced principal changes for three of its schools beginning next school year.

Becky Smith, current assistant principal at South Meadows Middle School, will become the principal.

At Brown Middle School, Koreen Barreras-Brown will replace retiring principal Don Brown. Barreras-Brown currently works as the director of Teen Parenting Services for Portland Public Schools.

Mike Strande will become principal at Rosedale Elementary School, replacing Greg Zinn, who is retiring. Strande is currently a dual language instructional coach at Minter Bridge Elementary.

At the district administrative office, Kathi Robinson will step down as executive director of title programs and work with teachers to implement TAG programs. Gina Baez.

Ladd Acres principal David Cox resigned April 1 for personal reasons; Glencoe High assistant principal Greg Mitchell will step down at the end of the school year; and Poynter Middle School assistant principal Brenda Baughman will retire.

Town Hall set for May 7

House Speaker Tina Kotek and state Reps. Ben Unger and Joe Gallegos will hold an education town hall on Tuesday, May 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Liberty High School auditorium. The town hall is open to all community members. Bring your questions and concerns for your state legislators and let your voice be heard.

Liberty High School is located at 21945 N.W. Wagon Way in Hillsboro.
