The hit-and-run case against a former Hillsboro School District principal was dismissed in Washington County Circuit Court Monday after the suspect reached a civil compromise with the owner of the vehicle he damaged.

Timothy Bishop, who was principal at Orenco Elementary School, struck a parked car near Cooper Mountain Nature Park in Beaverton on April 22. County sheriff’s deputies later found Bishop at his home and discovered damage to his car.

According to the civil compromise, he paid $1,200 for vehicle damage to the owner of the car he damaged.

In May, Bishop pleaded guilty to the domestic harassment charge and entered a domestic violence diversion program.

He remains on paid status leave at the school district, according to spokeswoman Beth Graser, but won’t return as principal at Orenco Elementary.
