The workshop is set from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce office, 5193 N.E. Elam Young Parkway, Suite A in Hillsboro.

Cost is $32 for members of the Hillsboro Chamber or OEN, and $70 for non-members.

Solar workshop set

for PCC/Rock Creek

The nonprofit Solar Oregon will host a free workshop on the basics of turning toward use of solar power on Saturday, July 13 on the Rock Creek campus of Portland Community College at 1 p.m. in Building 7, Room 103.

After the workshop, there will be a tour of PCC’s solar array, which encompasses approximately 35,000 square feet and is the largest ground-mounted solar infrastructure in the Portland metro area.

The workshop will focus primarily on residential applications for solar energy, and will cover how well solar works in Oregon’s climate; assessing your site for solar; the financial considerations of going solar; how to access incentives and tax credits that can cover up to 75 percent of the costs; and leasing, power purchase and financing options.
