Cornelius Pass Road repairs shut road

Road closed July 19-24 for safety upgrades

Northwest Cornelius Pass Road will be closed at U.S. 30 for five days starting 10 p.m. Friday, July 19, for work on a safety improvement project.

The road will reopen to traffic by 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 24.

U.S. 30 will remain open in both directions at all times during the work.

As a detour, motorists may use Newberry Road and Rocky Point Road.

The closure is necessary so the contractor completing a safety improvement project can replace a culvert beneath the road and fill in a dip in the roadway.

ODOT plans to widen and extend the right turn lane from eastbound U.S. 30; add dedicated right and left turn lanes from Cornelius Pass Road to U.S. 30; move a residential driveway on U.S. 30 farther west of the intersection and farther from the right turn lane onto Cornelius Pass Road; and improve signs and upgrade the traffic signal.

Completion is scheduled for fall.
