Hillsboro School District Superintendent Mike Scott last week announced four new assistant principals at four of the district’s secondary schools, completing appointments to all administrative positions for the upcoming school year.

Amy Torres will be the assistant principal at Brown Middle School, and Jose Barraza moves to South Meadows Middle School.

Torres was most recently a bilingual coach at South Meadows and Hillsboro High School. She also served as the Middle Years Program coordinator at South Meadows.

Barraza is a second-grade dual language teacher at Minter Bridge Elementary School, where he has taught for the past five years. He has also been the lead teacher at the district’s Migrant Summer School Program for the past three years.

Karen Shea will be the assistant principal at Glencoe High School and Peter Muilenburg will fill that position at Hillsboro High School.

Shea has been serving as dean of students at Hilhi since 2011. Prior to that, she was both an alternative education teacher at Miller Education Center and a provider of administrative support to Miller, Lincoln Street Elementary and the Middle School Summer Program.

Muilenburg began his career as an AmeriCorps member, working with small groups of high school students in English and English as a second language classes in Federal Way, Wash. He has taught in Bulgaria, Hong Kong, Eugene and Beaverton.

Last year, he taught social studies at Century High School.
