A sign-unveiling ceremony coupled with an inaugural ride is planned for the Tualatin Valley Scenic Bikeway Monday, Sept. 16.

Events are being planned at two locations along the bikeway.

The first event begins at 9 a.m. at the River House at Hillsboro’s Rood Bridge Park, 4000 S.E. Rood Bridge Road.

The second begins at 11 a.m. at the trailhead of the Banks-Vernonia State Trail, which is at the corner of Main and Northwest Sellers in Banks.

The bikeway covers more than 50 miles of mostly rural roads between the park and the trailhead. Each are state parks with parking, restrooms and drinking water.

Several other parks along the way also offer picnic shelters and restrooms.

Perhaps the most challenging point is the crossing at Oregon 47 and Maple Street in Forest Grove, where directional signs are being posted to help designate the route.

The events are sponsored by the Washington County Visitors Association.
