The Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center has reopened after being closed for nearly two weeks for annual cleaning and repairs. The center is operated by Hillsboro Parks & Recreation at 953 S.E. Maple St.

This annual closure is normal for aquatics facilities.

In addition to being thoroughly cleaned, the 43,480 square foot center had new carpeting installed and underwater pool lights replaced with energy-efficient LED lights.

New fitness equipment was also installed.

“We greatly appreciate the community’s patience while we rejuvenated SHARC. The aquatic and recreation center is enjoyed by more than 230,000 customers each year, and this closure and the work performed were necessary to extend the lifespan of the facility,” said Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Aquatics Manager Paula Rose.
