The public is invited to tour and experience the Hillsboro Airport from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.

That’s when the Port of Portland, which owns and operates Oregon’s second-busiest airport, is sponsoring the 13th annual Hillsboro Airport Air Fair. The free, family-friendly event offers a behind-the-scenes tour of the airport, including a flight simulator to test your flying skills.

Rides on airplanes and helicopters are available for $39 on a first-come, first-serve basis, and fairgoers will also have a chance to win a free one-hour scenic flight.

The airport has been in operation for 85 years. It supports business and recreational flying, flight training, aircraft maintenance, air ambulance service, aircraft fueling and storage.

The airport is located at 3355 N.E. Cornell Rd., where parking is available. It can also be reached from the MAX Blue Line station at the Washington County Fair Complex.
